OSHA Versatile Sampler
The unique construction of this versatile tube allows for the simultaneous
collection of aerosols and vapors. Originally designed by OSHA to
overcome some of the inconveniences of earlier methods, it is often
referred to
as the OSHA Versatile Sampler (OVS). This specially designed glass
tube contains a filter to trap aerosols and a two-section sorbent
bed to adsorb
vapors. All materials used in the construction of this tube are purified
to ensure low background interference. Samples are usually drawn
at 1.0 L/min to obtain volumes ranging from 60 to 480 liters. The
tubes are then
solvent extracted in toluene, acetonitrile, or acetone and analyzed
by GC or HPLC using electron capture, nitrogen/phosphorus, flame
photometric, or ultraviolet detectors. The specially constructed
open glass tube
is
75 mm long with a 13-mm outer diameter on the inlet end tapered to
8 mm on the outlet end. To increase the versatility of this design,
SKC has
expanded the OVS line to include tubes with variations in sorbents
and filter combinations.
Other combinations of sorbents or filters following the OVS
tube design are available by special order for research or other
specialty uses. Contact SKC with
your tube specifications.

OVS Tube Holder
|
The OVS Tube Holder consists of a standard tube holder fitted
with a special durable protective cover for the OVS tube. A
collar clip fastened to the protective cover allows for easy
attachment
to a worker. A flexible metal coil surrounds the tubing just
below the holder and allows the tubing to bend without blocking
the airflow. The OVS Tube Holder is suitable for use with Universal
XR, AirChek® 2000, and AirChek 52 sample pumps.
OVS Tube
Holder includes fitting with durable protective cover, 3
feet of tubing, and collar clip. |
