The MSHA Final Silica Rule went into effect June 17, 2024, with compliance dates originally set for 12 months (April 14, 2025) for coal mine operators and 24 months (April 8, 2026) for metal/non-metal mine operators. Recently, MSHA has temporarily paused enforcement for coal mine operators until August 18, 2025 due to the unforeseen NIOSH restructuring. The compliance date for metal and nonmetal mines is not affected.
